How Do You Go About Building Relationships During COVID-19??

So, another week in lockdown. Another week at home and having more and more things that we like to do shut down and taken away from us. How are you spending this time to actually market yourself and market your business online? Are you showing up to build relationships? Or are you showing up just to sell and get your message across?

Now, we are living in unprecedented times, and you’ve heard that from everybody. And one of the things that I wanted to discuss tonight is how you are actually showing up online because one of the most interesting things over the last couple of weeks even though this has been a global pandemic, for businesses, it’s really about focusing on local.

(tl;dr Click here to Watch the Videos Below)

And with the digital space and more and more people moving online and everything that we are doing from communication, networking, even the way that businesses are actually running their business, from restaurants actually offering takeaways, gin manufacturers creating hand sanitizer, how you actually pivot and actually show up in a digital space now is so important.

There has never been a better time to understand the digital space than now. With the world in lock down, and seemingly everyone on the internet and social media it can be a minefield of misinformation. Are you showing up to build relationships? Or are you showing up just to sell and get your message across? Something to think about. Which is why in this video I discuss how to build relationships online. ALL Marketing – online or offline is about building relationships. For digital or online, it starts with knowing your customer journey and mapping the RIGHT product for THEM – Then you SOLVE their pain, BUILD A RELATIONSHIP with the right Marketing funnel and email sequences.

With everything now moving to online, how are you using this time to grow and optimise? Maybe being online & on Social Media is something completely different to what you’re used to. The fastest and best way to start getting anything results online is to have a system. You can’t just pop into Facebook and expect everyone to know you are there. So with the changes we are facing here are a couple of tips:
👉 People First, Businesses Second This isn’t the time to sell. Instead, this time should be used to share your personal thoughts and feelings and connect with others on a human level.
👉 Communicate Given the quickly evolving circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 situation, it is critical that your current and potential customers understand how your business is reacting to the situation. Additionally, if you have plans to shift your business in some way, share that with your audience.
👉 Remember, you aren’t alone, a lot of people have actually been forced to re-look at the way that they’re doing things. Here at Marketing Leap we are offering a range of different business pivot options using questions

The whole premise being with everything in lock down our potential clients need to pivot their business to ensure they still have that capability “to make money.” You need to have a system and You NEED to have some understanding of how the online space works.

And with the digital space and more and more people moving online and everything that we are doing from communication, networking, even the way that businesses are actually running their business, from restaurants actually offering takeaways, gin manufacturers creating hand sanitizer, how you actually pivot and actually show up in a digital space now is so important.

It’s really, really interesting in the fact that I’ve been contacted by a number of people recently who their entire business runs on Facebook. And if you work with me, you will know that one of the things that I am most passionate about is making sure that you have an online presence across all the different digital touchpoints. You don’t need to be everywhere, you only need to be where your ideal client is.

So it’s been really interesting for me working with this group of people whose entire business works on one particular platform, and it’s also been really interesting watching so many of my fellow entrepreneurs and local business owners who are jumping on and doing lives and this whole Facebook space and this whole digital space is suddenly becoming so busy.

How you can actually show up, be present, and still make yourself relevant with everything that’s going on. So, the biggest thing, really, is all about connection. It should be all about people first, business second, which is really hard when there are so many businesses closing down and businesses having to really look at the way that they do things. But it still has to be about giving value. Now, there’s a classic system that we use.

It was a tipping point, can’t remember the exact, but they used it a lot with Twitter, and it was all about give value, give value, give value, do a soft sell, then you do a hard sell. Right now, it is all about just giving value and, like I said, it’s all about people first, business second.

The other thing that you need to be doing is over-communicate. Stay in contact with your clients. Tell them what’s going on. Tell them what’s going on with your business. Doesn’t mean that it’s carte blanche to go and do a hard sell or anything like that. By all means, you let your clients know how your business is reacting to what’s going on. But, you know, communicate. Tell them what’s going on.

Quite recently, I’ve done a series of lives and emails telling my database that there’s certain processes that we have rolled out and that we are offering to help them when it comes to pivoting online from setting up emergency websites to creating booking systems, and actually helping clients keep in touch with their clients through automated email systems, and just letting everybody know that you’re still there and that you are still with business. But, again, no selling.

Just making sure that you are actually giving value. So, there’s a couple of things that you really need to look at. And, like I said, right now Facebook and Instagram are just going absolutely nuts and I think there’s so many people out there that now know what TikTok is all about whereas before they wouldn’t have had a clue. So, if you keep those things in mind. And while you’ve got this downtime, or while you are at home and you are having to do so much more online, there’s a couple of things that you really do need to be spending this time doing. So, firstly, if you have a website and if you are showing up in the digital space, I don’t care what you do, you need to have a website. You need to have a platform that is yours that you own.

This particular group that I’ve been working with, predominantly 95 to 99% of their business is on Facebook. If Facebook changes their rules, there goes most of your business. So, making sure that you have your website is so important. So while you’re at home, and while you’re self-isolating and you’ve got time, have a look at your website and start optimizing it. If you’re not sure how to do that, reach out.
I have checklists, I have different things that I can send you to help you go through and just check the optimization of your website. The next thing is making sure that you are being consistent with your social media profiles. So go and have a look and make sure that you’ve got the same cover images across them, the same profile pictures. Make sure you’ve even got the same names because I’ve had that happen quite a few times where businesses have opened up on different platforms and had different names.

And then the next thing is making sure that your Google My Business and all your business listings are actually set up correctly. And, again, I did a training a couple of months ago on Google My Business, so if you’re not too sure how to get any of that set up, please reach out to me because that is what I’m here for.

This whole purpose of me turning up every Tuesday night to do a video for this group is for no other reason than to give value and to let you know what other options there are out there to help you grow in the digital space and to help you lose that marketing overwhelm and really understand what it is that you need to do to grow your business.

And not just to grow your business and to grow your likes, but to actually make money because, really, at the end of the day, if you’re not making money you don’t have a business, you have a hobby. So, there are just a couple of things that I really wanted to talk to you about tonight was, like I said, making sure that it’s people first, business second, making sure that you do nothing more than communicate and overcommunicate and constantly stay in touch with your clients and let them know what you are doing with your business and how your business can solve a problem or fix a need that they have, and let them know that you’re there.

And with this downtime, have a look at your website, have a look at your social media profiles, and optimize your different business listings, especially your Google My Business. And if you don’t know how to do any of that, if you look at it all and it is overwhelming, please reach out to me because that’s what I’m here for. The same reason all the workshops that I normally run have actually been put online, and there a third of the price of what they normally are, but again, it’s all focusing on different areas to help you grow your business, help you get an understanding of the digital space, and help you show up effectively online so that you can make money.

So, when things like this happen, not that anyone could ever have predicted this, but, you know, you’ve got things in place that actually enable you to move ahead. So, if you are interested, I’ll put the links to the next workshop. The next workshop is all about online mapping and digital presence. So, again, making sure, like everything that I’ve just discussed tonight, making sure that everything that you have online is aligned. And it is actually set up to help you make money. So, if you have any questions, please comment below. If there’s anything in particular that you’d really like me to talk about next week, again, please comment and let me know.
In the meantime, please stay safe and use this time wisely By wisely, I mean you’re Netflix binging is fine, but spend this time working on your business, getting your online presence set up and, again, if you’re not too sure or if you look at it and it is overwhelming, please reach out to me because that is what I’m here for and that is what I do.
