Growing a YouTube channel of takes a fair amount of consistency and work. Creating YouTube video content and editing videos take up a lot of our time. So once you have done all the work and upload your videos to YouTube, how do you promote your channel and get your videos in front of your ideal audience? In our previous blogs, we talked about the Secrets to a Successful YouTube Marketing Plan and the Top YouTube Content Ideas That Are Easy to Create.

Now that you created a habit of listing all the content for your videos, filming them, to scheduling them to your channel. The question is, how do you promote your YouTube videos?

Organic Marketing Strategies

Rather than using paid methods to generate traffic, organic marketing drives traffic to your business. As a business, you will need multiple ways to attract your clients and convert them. The goal of organic marketing is to increase brand awareness through SEO, social media, and other channels.

Organic marketing helps you attract visitors to your site, which may eventually convert to paid customers. When consumers are making purchasing decisions, it is vital to keep your business top of mind. As an additional benefit, organic marketing influences paid marketing since you can re-target them later with paid ads on social media, search engines, etc.

There are different organic marketing strategies you can do in promoting your YouTube videos, and here they are:

Create Blog Post

A tactic we use here at Marketing Leap is to use the video transcript (you can use rev.com, otter.ai and many other transcription services for this) as the basis of a blog post. A significant benefit of doing this is that Google will also index your video, besides YouTube. Use your website and blog marketing to promote your YouTube channel and videos. As more people visit your blog and watch the embedded video, your views are counted in YouTube meaning your very important watch time increases.

To make it easier for your audience to find you, include a YouTube follow button on your website and blog. You can embed YouTube videos into your blog or website by copying the embedded code under the video. Check out how it works below.

Create a YouTube video to accompany your blog posts or share videos of customer reviews and case studies on your website. Besides marketing your YouTube channel and videos, you’ll also drive traffic to your website.

You can use the transcription to help you repurpose your videos into blogs. There are tons of options you can use for this, and the first one is using the service of Rev. They have two types of services that you can choose from, either have it transcribed by a person or use AI. I prefer having it done by a human, as you can decide if you want the UK spelling or the US spelling, or your casual language.

Another transcription service that you can use is Otter.ai. Otter’s transcriptions were accurate. You can improve Otter’s AI as you use its vocabulary feature more often. There’s nothing better than Otter if you need to handle a large volume of transcriptions or if you need to collaborate remotely with your team.

Take Snippets to Social Media

You can easily add insights to your videos by sharing them on social media. YouTube makes the ability to promote your video on other social networks incredibly easy. Click the “Share” tab underneath a video to share it for easy posting. YouTube provides a shortened URL on its site.

Video marketing is an effective way to communicate your message and is more effective than written content. To encourage your audience to subscribe to your YouTube channel, make sure you share your videos on your social media channels.

Use Email Marketing for your YouTube Videos

As mentioned in one of our blogs, we do not own our social media accounts. If something happens, we do not have control over it, and we can lose all our connections to our audience. The most effective way to distribute videos is through email marketing.

Don’t forget about your current customers and leads while you’re looking for and attracting new ones. Make sure relevant email lists know about your video content. Send your contacts to your blog’s embedded video to increase traffic to the video and site, or show them a playlist you’ve curated if it’s relevant. Another way to keep your contacts engaged is to send them an email newsletter containing valuable information and video content.

Build Organic Strategy for your YouTube Videos

You should analyse the traffic habits of your audience on your website and compare them to your ideal audience before building an organic marketing strategy. It’s essential to know where you get most of your organic traffic from currently. Are they from your social media channels, blog posts, or email newsletters?

Creating the right content for your target audience means understanding what type of organic traffic they consume. You need to determine what organic traffic works for your business so that you can continue to create that type of content. The key to organic marketing is understanding your audience and what they want to see.

Don’t forget to optimise your YouTube content.

For organic content to work, you need SEO. Make sure that you optimise all your content to appear in search engines and social media platforms. Depending on your goals, you may use similar strategies, but you’ll optimise your blog content, YouTube video descriptions, and social media posts. Content optimisation strategies usually involve incorporating keywords into your content, creating an attractive design, and using metadata to describe your content.

Assess your analytics

In every marketing strategy, assess all your marketing efforts. At first, YouTube Analytics can seem intimidating. Taking the time to understand a bunch of numbers and strange graphs can be challenging. When you get the hang of it, YouTube Analytics is pretty straightforward to understand.

With YouTube Analytics, you can easily measure and keep track of your KPIs to let you which is working and not for your brand. Here are the usual metrics you need to monitor:

  • Watch Time
  • Audience Retention
  • Demographics
  • Engagement Reports
  • Traffic Sources
